Off-Campus Study Collaboration

One of the most active NY6 Communities of Practice is the off-campus study deans and directors group, which has been collaborating for more than a decade. Through regular meetings, the group shares best practices and confers on urgent changes in international travel policies and other concerns. In addition, the deans and directors have developed an exchange agreement through which students at all New York Six campuses have access to select, approved off-campus programs.

Currently, the programs approved for the exchange (and the schools offering the programs) are:

Freiburg, Germany (Colgate)
Santa Fe, New Mexico (Colgate)
ACC China (Hamilton)
Paris, France (Hamilton)
Brazil (Hobart and William Smith)
Ecuador (Hobart and William Smith)
Kenya (St. Lawrence)
Madrid, Spain (St. Lawrence, Skidmore)
New Zealand (Skidmore)
Vietnam (Union, Hobart and William Smith)

Professional Development

Many NY6 Communities of Practice take advantage of the proximity of colleagues with similar interests and responsibilities and organize professional development programs that address specific issues or new developments at liberal-arts institutions.

Examples of professional development programs sponsored by the New York Six include:
Title IX workshops
Educational technology webinars
Off-campus study staff retreats
Campus life conferences

To share an idea about a professional development program, please contact Amy Cronin, NY6 Executive Director, at acronin@newyork6.org.
