The deans of students plan to bring together their staffs again during the 2011-12 academic year, building on the success of the initial such event held in 2010 at Union College.  The workshop will offer an opportunity to share best practices and identify opportunities for collaboration.

Joint meeting w/ presidents, provosts

The deans of students have proposed a joint meeting with provosts and presidents to discuss the “Role of the Liberal Arts College in the 21st Century,” with the goal of building further connections between academic affairs and student affairs.  Suggested timing is fall 2011.  Amy will discuss with the provosts whether there is a possible tie-in with the Teagle proposal. NOTE: In a discussion of this idea with the presidents, further refinement of the concept was requested.  Amy will work...

The New York Six deans of students proposed a joint meeting in the spring with the career services directors to share best practices, and are working to secure as a speaker/facilitator Sheila Curran, an expert in higher education career planning who advocates a “career planning community” approach.  The meeting is scheduled for May 25 in Lake Placid in conjunction with the annual Liberal Arts Career Network meeting. ...
