Diversity Workshops held in May

The first two diversity workshops for faculty were held in May at Union College and Hamilton College.  The workshops were conducted by two facilitators from the Anti-Defamation League’s Campus of Difference™ program: Raymon Parker and Kenneth Roman.  The half-day program focused on awareness of stereotypes and cultural assumptions , their affect on interpersonal interactions, and how to respond when confronted with situations involving prejudice and discrimination.  The initial feedback from...

Staff training program

We are beginning to plan a June diversity training program for student services staff (e.g., registrar’s office, bursar’s office, financial aid).  St. Lawrence has offered to host. 

Faculty training program

We are negotiating with the Anti-Defamation League Campus of Difference program to conduct a common half-day training program for faculty on each New York Six campus in late April/early May.  The ADL/CoD has trainers based in the Albany/Hudson Valley area with appropriate experience, which will keep our costs down and enable the single-campus/common program approach, which addresses concerns about trying to motivate faculty to travel to another campus for the program.
