Hindi 101 to be offered in the fall semester

The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium is pleased to offer Hindi/Urdu 101 in the Fall 2018 Term. The class is offered through Syracuse University over a synchronous video connection.

Hindi 101 (HIN 101) is designed primarily for those who have no, or very little, exposure to Hindi language. Students will learn to read Hindi through Devanagari script and learn basic survival linguistic skills needed in day-to-day life in the target language. It is proficiency based course and emphasize on all four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Class “meets” on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:25 to 9:20 am. Meeting locations and computer requirements vary by campus: please contact your registrar for classroom location.

Hindi 101 follows the Syracuse University academic calendar. Classes run Monday, August 27, 2018, through Friday, December 7, 2018. Final exams are from Dec. 10 through Dec. 14. Please see https://www.syracuse.edu/academics/calendars/ for more information about the academic calendar.

To register for the class, please submit the completed cross-registration form (attached) to the Registrar of your HOME institution no later than 12 noon on Monday, August 13, 2018.

Who can enroll in this class?

Enrollment is restricted to full-time students in good academic standing who are matriculated at a New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium member school.  If your home school offers an equivalent course on campus, you will not be able to enroll in this course.

How do I enroll?

Read the attached cross-registration guidelines document for detailed information about policies, regulations, and registration details.  

To register for HIN 101, complete the attached cross-registration form. Note that the total credit hours you are enrolled in for the term does not include this course. Once you have signed and dated the bottom right-hand side of the form, and scan/email it to your Registrar’s Office.  

You can work on getting the needed approvals (HOME Chair or Advisor) after submitting the initial form to your Registrar's Office.
