Colgate to Host IGD Symposium Oct. 16

We invite NY6 students, staff, faculty and administrators to join us at Colgate for Stages of Change: Dialogue in a Liberal Arts Context on Monday, October 16, from 8 am to 5 pm. This event brings together faculty, staff, and students from Colgate, New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium schools, and others from Central New York region for a day of forums and workshops, to share research and best practices for using Intergroup Dialogue (IGD) to improving campus climate through curricular and co-curricular intellectual and community engagement. The name, “Stages of Change,” refers to the IGD 4-Stage dialogic process.

Goals:

  • Provide a basic introduction to the components of intergroup dialogue

  • Explore curricular and extracurricular possibilities of dialogue in various college settings

  • Provide space for dialogue among students, staff, faculty, and administrators

  • Advance innovative practices to institutionalize curricular and extracurricular dialogue(s)

  • Foster networking and community among practitioners across the region
