NY6 Regional Model African Union Simulation - Hosted by Colgate University

New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium

Regional Model African Union Simulation

October 21-23, 2016
@Colgate University, Hamilton, NY

Join students and faculty from across the New York Six for the 2nd annual regional model African Union simulation!

This 3-day event brings teams of 6 students and a faculty advisor from each school together.  Delegations are formed with three students who represent an African country in committee and council sessions (so a team of 6 would be made up of 2 country delegations).  Students consider issues of importance to the regional and simulate responses to conflict which may arise.

This is a great opportunity for those interested in African Studies or for those heritage students from the region to network and learn the rules and procedures of debate for an international organization.

Meals and accommodations will be provided by our gracious hosts from the African & Latin American Studies Program at Colgate University and generous co-sponsorship from the New York Six.

>>Form your delegation TODAY!

*Update:  So far, we have teams from the following NY6 schools representing the following countries:
Colgate: Nigeria, Mali and Djibouti
Hamilton: South Africa, Kenya and Egypt
Hobart and William Smith: Zimbabwe and TBD
St. Lawrence: Botswana and Liberia
Skidmore: DRC and Rwanda
Union: Ethiopia and Ghana

We are looking for student teams of 6 to represent countries at this regional simulation.  No experience necessary, although you will need to devote some time in advance to learn about hte country you are representing, and find an advisor to offer support.

**Teams must be formed by 9/23/2016**

For more information about forming a team or participating in the simulation, please contact Nell Bartkowiak (nbartkow@newyork6.org) or Mary Moran, Professor of Anthropology (mmoran@colgate.edu).  More details online: http://bit.ly/1UlmmaX
